President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated two toll road segments in Medan, North Sumatra, Friday (13/10/2017).
The two sections are Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi Section II to VI and Medan-Binjai section 2 (Helvetia-Sei Semayang) and section 3 (Sei Semayang-Binjai).
"The mobility of the goods, and the person will be very fast, if the goods are fast, the transportation will be cheaper," said Jokowi during the inauguration.
He pointed out, today the prices of goods in Singapore and Malaysia are twice cheaper than in Indonesia.
If the price of transportation can be lowered, added Jokowi, then the competitiveness of Indonesia will increase. As is known, this year's ranking of Indonesia's competitiveness rose from the previous 41, to 36.
It also makes Jokowi pay special attention to infrastructure development.
"If I go to the field I always ask what problem? Oh segment of Kualanamu-Medan-Tebing Tinggi land clearance is completed," said Jokowi.
