In commemorating 1 Muharram, Monitoring Tribun-medan.com children are very enthusiastic to follow the torch parade that has been done since the year 2000's.
According to a committee of the torch rallies, Razali (54), this activity is routinely done annually to remind the younger generation, if Islam also has a new year.
"We held a Memorial 1 Muharram 1439 Hijriah, which we have held this event continuously. Each year we have this event to inspire our young generation how to remember that Islam is a new year," he said when met in front of the Gaudiyah Mosque.
Not only do torch rallies, the committee also holds a race dedicated to children around the Ghaudiyah Mosque.
"We also do the race for children like reading the short letters of the Qur'an, and adzan around our village," said Razali.
Another participant, Muhammad Alfandi, said that this activity was held on a regular night of welcoming 1 Muharram by way of the village.
"It's a routine (torch parade). Children are here to follow the spirit of this new Muslim year," he said.
In preparing this torch parade event to run smoothly, the committee had planned a week before the activity was conducted. In addition to the march band, the marching band also enlivened the Memorial night of Muharram 1439 Hijriah.
The route of the torch parade carried out by hundreds of children starts from Jalan KH Zainul Arifin-Jalan S Parman-Jalan Kejaksaan-Jalan KH Zainul Arifin. The torch was delayed due to rain pouring in Medan City. However, when the rain starts to subsided, the children enthusiastically follow that annual event.
